Unknown Kid From Other Planet
Nathan Cavaleri

Nathan Cavaleri (born 18 June 1982) is an Australian blues-rock guitarist and former child actor.

Cavaleri was diagnosed with leukaemia at a very early age and this led to playing the guitar to take his mind off the disease. He has beaten the disease. He began playing at the age of six after using a full-sized guitar with a shaved neck (to accommodate smaller hands). At the age of nine he played with Mark Knopfler, who described his playing as "unbelievable". Later he was trained by, and at age thirteen, eventually toured with, B.B. King. Having released three albums with Epic Records, Cavaleri also has played with Tommy Emmanuel, Robben Ford and Aaron Neville, been featured on the soundtrack for Free Willy 2, and served as a spokesman for Peavey Guitars. Currently he leads his own band called Dirty Skanks, where he writes and arranges his own material, employing his unique techniques as he tours.

Jonny Lang

Jonny Lang
(born Jon Gordon Langseth, Jr., January 29, 1981 in Fargo, North Dakota) is a Grammy Award-winning American blues and gospel singer.

Biography

Lang started playing the guitar at the age of twelve, after his father took him to see the Bad Medicine Blues Band, one of the few blues bands in Fargo. Lang soon started taking guitar lessons from Ted Larsen, the Bad Medicine Blues Band's guitar player. Several months after Lang started guitar lessons, he joined the Bad Medicine Blues Band, which was then renamed Kid Jonny Lang & The Big Bang.

The band moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota and independently released the album Smokin. Lang was signed to A&M Records in 1996. He released the critically acclaimed multi-platinum Lie to Me on January 28, 1997. The next album, Wander This World, was released on October 20, 1998 and earned a Grammy nomination. This was followed by the more soulful Long Time Coming on October 14, 2003. Lang also made a cover of Edgar Winter's "Dying to Live." Lang's newest album, the gospel-influenced Turn Around, was released in 2006, and most recently won Lang his first Grammy Award.

In more than ten years on the road, Lang has toured with the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, B.B. King, Blues Traveler, Jeff Beck, and Sting. In 1999, he was invited to play for a White House audience including President and Mrs. Clinton. Lang also makes a cameo appearance in the film Blues Brothers 2000 as a janitor. In 2004 Eric Clapton asked Lang to play at the Crossroads Guitar Festival to raise money for the Crossroads Centre Antigua.

Jonny Lang - Smokin'

Dengarkan track "louise" dan "i Love you the best".. lagu-lagu dan skill beliau memberi nafas baru kepada gitaris - gitaris muda. khususnya gitaris blues... I wonder if i have to compare him with John Mayer..

Cheap Trick

Cheap Trick - Heaven Tonight

Cheap Trick is an American rock band from Rockford, Illinois, that gained popularity in the late 1970s. The band consists of Robin Zander (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Rick Nielsen (lead guitar, backing vocals), Tom Petersson (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Bun E. Carlos (drums, percussion).

Cheap Trick created a substantial fan base through a hard-edged yet melodic pop sound that combines the tunefulness of The Beatles with the speed and energy of punk rock. Their biggest hits include "Surrender", "I Want You to Want Me", "Dream Police" and "The Flame." Cheap Trick also performed the theme song "That '70s Song" for That '70s Show from the second season onward and the theme song "Baby Muggles" for the Colbert Report.

Cheap Trick continues to tour with the original lineup, and their most recent release, Rockford, has gained critical acclaim.[1] The band is most popular in Japan, where they have remained popular superstars since their first album. They have been often referred to in the Japanese press as the "American Beatles".

Instruments:

Cheap Trick is known for its use of unusual guitars and basses. Zander plays a Hamer 12-string guitar in addition to a Gibson Firebird, Fender Telecaster, and Rickenbacker 450 Gibson Flying V and Fender Stratocaster. Nielsen is an avid collector who, despite rationalizing his guitar collection, still has over 250 pieces in his possession. He has collaborated with Hamer on trademark 'themed' guitars, some based on Cheap Trick albums such as "Rockford," "The Doctor," and even songs such as "Gonna Raise Hell." Hamer has also made unique five-necked guitars and electric mandocellos for Nielsen.

Petersson (according to www.12stringbass.net) is generally credited for having the initial idea for a 12-string bass. He previously had used a Gibson Thunderbird, and Alembic [15] [16] and Hagstrom 8-string basses, and asked Jol Dantzig of Hamer Guitars to make a 12-string bass. The company initially made him a 10-string bass. Following the successful trial use of that bass, the prototype 12-string bass, The Hamer 'Quad', was produced. Petersson later used 12-string basses made by Kids (a Japanese guitar maker), Chandler, and signature models from Waterstone as well as an impressive array of 4, 5 and 8 stringed basses from other guitar makers.

Carlos has played with many different commercial drum accessories, including Ludwig and Slingerland Radio King drums, Zildjian cymbals, rare Billy Gladstone snare drums, and Capella drum sticks. He is also an avid collector of vintage drums and buys, sells and trades with a few other Rockford, Illinois traders, mainly Randy Rainwater. Each year Rainwater and Carlos' collection can be seen at several drum shows in the Midwest.

Carlos has also recorded and written songs for many Rockford bands, such as Mark Willer and The Blues Hawks and also put together the short-lived Bun E. Carlos Experience, which also included Jon Brandt, who replaced Tom Petersson in the mid '80s, on bass.

Bands Influenced

Bands citing Cheap Trick as an influence include The Datsuns, Enuff Z'nuff, Everclear, Extreme, Fountains of Wayne, Guns N' Roses, Mötley Crüe, Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Green Day, OK Go, Smashing Pumpkins, The Pink Spiders, Terrorvision, Weezer, among others.

Kurt Cobain once said about Nirvana: "We sound just like Cheap Trick, only the guitars are louder."

Studio albums

Cheap Trick/Woke up With A Monster

Woke up With A Monster (1994).. pada tahun 1999.. time merayau-rayau di kompleks karamunsing.. tak ada kerja, tak ada tujuan..
track-track yang menarik dalam album ini ialah... "Never Run Out Of Love".. dan "You're All I Wanna Do"..

Judy And Mary

Judy and Mary was a Japanese multi-genre band known for their innovative punk, rock, and pop meldings of noisy but melodic music in the 1990s. They formed in 1991 when bassist Yoshihito Onda (Onda Yoshihit) met vocalist Yuki Isoya (soya Yūki) in Hakodate, Hokkaidō. Much later, drummer Kohta Igarashi (Igarashi Kōta) and guitarist Takuya Asanuma (Asanuma Takuya) were added to round out the group.

In 1992, they released their independent album Be Ambitious with an accompanying video on Chainsaw Records. They were picked up by Epic/Sony Records and released their first major label single, Power of Love in 1993. Their first debut major label album, J.A.M, was released in 1994. With each release they grew in popularity until they became one of the most popular and well-known bands in Japan. One of their songs, Sobakasu, was used as the first opening theme for the popular and famous anime TV series Rurouni Kenshin and sold over 2 million copies.

In all, they released seven albums, three compilation albums and twenty-two singles. Judy and Mary broke up in March 2001 following the WARP Tour Final held at the Tokyo Dome, where fans bid them a tearful farewell. The concert is available on DVD.

Yuki is now enjoying a successful solo career, under the name YUKI. Takuya is also currently a solo artist. Onda has joined a new band called the Hot Rod Crue.

Special Tribute To John Gaisah

HE may be dead but John Gaisah lives in the hearts of Sabahans," declares Sabah Records managing director Chong Ten Siong.

That is perhaps the best tribute to the Kadazandusun singer who was nicknamed Sabah's Tom Jones.

Twenty-five years after his death, Gaisah, whom many Sabahans consider their greatest singer, continues to influence the present generation of Kadazandusun singers.

"When I was a teenager, I was always with a guitar singing John Gaisah's songs and imitating his voice," recalls 27-year-old Jimmy Palikat, a popular independent label Kadazandusun singer from Gaisah's hometown, Tambunan.

"In the 1970s, the Kadazandusun music grew rapidly thanks to him. He was number one because of his voice," recalls veteran singer Monica Ongkosing, 46.

Gaisah fan Lee Khoi Min, who distributes and retails records, says the legendary singer "started the ball rolling for the Kadazandusun music scene."

"After Gaisah got third place in the 1976 Bintang RTM competition (the winner was the late Sudirman Arshad) he brought oomph to Kadazandusun music. He was the first Kadazandusun to bring his community's songs into the mainstream," says Lee, who is from Kota Kinabalu.

That claim is perhaps debatable because the names of Justin Stimol and Ambrose Mudi, who are Gaisah's seniors in the Sabah music scene, are mentioned whenever the question – Who started the Kadazandusun music? – is posed.

What can't be argued is, like Elvis Presley, it is as if Gaisah has never left the building.

"His albums continue to sell," observes Dusiah Frencis, co-owner of Bamboo Sound Studio.

Gaisah died on Aug 11, 1981, at the age of 26. The dusty Sabah newspapers clippings stored in the state archive building that is approximately 100m from where Gaisah's newly-purchased Subaru sedan zigzagged and crashed into a timber-laden lorry at about 1.15am, showed how widely reported his untimely demise was. And like James Dean, Gaisah became a legend.

Justin Lusah, the singer of the most famous Kadazandusun song Jambatan Do Tamparuli (Tamparuli Bridge) and Gaisah's cousin, recalls vividly the events leading to Gaisah's death.

"His family was celebrating the one-month birth of his son, Aldro, and his wife pleaded with him not to sing at the Sandego Night Club (in Kota Kinabalu) that night. ‘Please don't go as you are already drunk,' she told him," recalls the 50-year-old semi-retired singer. "But John did not listen. His style was if he wanted to go, he would go."

After Gaisah finished performing to a packed Sandego, his band members urged him not to drive on his own but to join them for their usual supper in Luyang, a suburb in Kota Kinabalu.

"They told him, ‘you are drunk, follow us.' John replied, ‘I'm okay, I'll drive and follow you all.' Instead, at a junction he headed back to his house in Penampang," says Lusah.

He heard about his best friend's death at 6am on the radio.

"I went straight to the hospital mortuary to see his body. I met the lorry driver and he told me, ‘I saw a car zigzagging and I knew it was a drunk driver so I stopped on the side of the road but the car crashed into my lorry'."

Gaisah, the singer of Miniagal Oh Sinsing (Like a Ring) and Taragang Rasuk (Red Dress) was at the height of his popularity.

"When John and I visited a village, we were treated like ministers. Even if we entered a village unannounced, everyone would come out and greet us. Female fans would chase us and it was shiok (exciting)."

Were they more famous than politicians?

"We made the politician famous. We followed Datuk Ayub Aman and the late Datuk Mark Koding on their political campaigns. Usually we visited the village first to rouse the crowd and then the politicians would arrive and speak," Lusah says, smiling at the memory.

Gaisah lives on through his music. But another Gaisah might be rising – his son, Aldro now 25, has cut a Kadazandusun album titled Superstar.
